The town council are funding (from the Sainsbury money)  an Exeter based consultancy to look into how to get extra funding. Nothing will happen until it is known whether or not extra funding is available and, if so, how much.

So what is actually happening with the Lawn right now? Is there going to be a playpark or not?

@majorp you may have friends on bigger councils than a small town council, if we didn't have small town councils they bigger councils wouldnt have much to do. they all twiddle thumbs where needed and deal with things that don't need attention like a new playpark or a resturant on tucks plot.

What's the bad smell that floats over Dawlish.com that causes so many people to stop engaging with others on this site? Oh I know, does anyone else! Can't their  I.P.  address(s) be blocked from the site?

@Lynne - lack of police resources - city of london! Premier league football matches. The only lack of police resources is feet on the street, go to any area of the country and see inspectors and above ranks lording it up in herds.

It isn't rate payers money! It is money that has come from developers. Part of the planning agreement for Sainsbury's to be built was that it should give an amount of money (£200,000 I think it was) for use in the town centre. This money has to be spent within 10 years of the commencement of the building of Sainsbury's. So we are looking at it being spent by 2021/2022. If the money isn't spend ...

Needs an independant investigation as to how it was run! This is ratepayer's money being squandered at a time when essential services being cut to the bone and don't get me started about expenses!

Just to be clear with regard to the stance taken by our local council (by which I take it you mean Dawlish Town Council).  Although no recorded vote was taken at the time, I understand that support for having a playpark on the lawn was not unanimous. In other words, some of our town councillors voted against.
