Driving past the golf course down to Teignmouth on Saturday, I passed two individual cyclists 50m apart. It would have been much easier to pass them if they had been riding two abreast (just the one overtake to make then).

Back at the point... Groups of cyclists, unless racing, will almost never cycle three abreast or more (unless someone is passing someone else). most likely what @DEEDOODLE saw was sereral pairs of cyclists all two abreast, but staggered slightly when seen from behind. Bit like this: | | | | | | | | (which looks like three abreast seen from behind).
so @leatash if you are coming from the 2n4 garage, you should go all the way down to tuck's plot and start again from there.... how does that one work...?
Anyone like to speculate on why cyclists use the road instead of the path sometimes? Anyone?
I may be being thick, but if the cyclepath is dangerous for cyclists to share with pedestrians, why do people complain about cyclists being on the road instead?
@DEEDOODLE - why is it ok for people with disabilities to use mobility scooters but not bicycles? Is it the extra wheels that makes it better?
Lynne, I think you'll find pedestrians already use Shutterton Lane. The increased usage from the SANGS together with some signage may help to slow down the inconsiderate car drivers who think that pedestrians have no right to be there...
A couple of weeks ago I cycled along the front at Exmouth, and the main problem I had was inconsiderate motorists slowing me down...
I think quite a lot of them are cyclists too.
It's all goiing to be houses soon, any way. http://www.railmagazine.com/news/network/2016/04/11/network-rail-land-around-stations-to-be-released-for-housing
Ironically, the traffic lights at Lanherne and associated road narrowiing mean there is currently no safe cycle route between the town centre and Exeter Rd.
Barbarawils68 - Car tax rates for vehicles less than 100g/km are £zero. Why should cyclists have to pay when those car drivers don't?
So it's finished now, but we can't walk on it until some Tory has opened it?
