£10,000 eh? Wonder what that could be spent on instead of a by election? It might make more financial sense if the candidate who came immediately after Tessa Lawson in the May elections should just be co-opted on. And if that should be a Tory - so be it. It won't make any difference to the political make-up of the town council will it? It will just put it back where it was before TL's ...
Actually, thinking about it, I think you're right. We might well have an election as the vacancy is in Central ward and I suspect that it will be quite easy to find 10 electors within that ward to do whatever is necessary so that an election gets called. @wondering Crediton way to Plymouth. Okehampton etc. I think, long term, that is what will happen BUT to state the obvious, it cannot happen until that line is (re)built so until that happens train companies have to use the Dawlish line as there is no other option.
A bylaw is a thought however does anyone know how much it costs to have spikes or whatever put on roofs/around chimneys? I ask because I suspect that not all in the town have the wherewithall to pay for such preventative measures even if they would like them to be done.
@flo The Village Green application was rejected by Devon County Council. It was opposed by Dawlish Town Council, Dawlish Community Trust, Teignbridge District Council, DAY (Dawlish Action for Youth), Dawlish Town Football club and others. No Appeal against Devon County Council's decision is allowed and the application cannot be resubmitted unless there has been a significant change in ...
Thought this might be of interest. It has been brought to the attention of the new Voices for Dawlish councillors. We can only but keep putting on the pressure........ http://www.fieldsintrust.org/
