@Nelson - as i recall dare were against dawlish having a new supermarket at all (dawlish now has one) and that given that it had been decided that a new supermarket was indeed what dawlish needed dare subsequently argued that that ladies mile holiday park was the better location rather than shutterton bridge. and where is the new supermarket located? shutterton bridge. hardly proof of a minority ...

@Nelson - going off topic a bit i admit but as you've mentioned it above i'm just curious to know how minority groups such as dare have such clout if they are, as you say, a minority group?

I don't think it happened yesterday - or if it did it may have only been the one stall. January is a bit of a 'dead' month after all and last month there was not only the local produce market but also the Christmas market so I guess both punters and local producers had a glut of buying/selling then. Next local produce market should take place first Friday in Feb.

@cheftallyrand : you wanted some info on local produce markets? The Dawlish Local Produce Market is held on the first Friday of each month. 10.00am to 2.00pm. Look out for the green and white stalls located on the Piazza near the tourist information centre. Whilst I appreciate the point about empty properties being put to use that doesn't detract from the other point made that the type of business in question may well cause a traffic problem. @wriggler - yes i thought the same thing. and the lorries delivering the items for auction, where will they park? presumably outside or near the building. traffic congestion problems? are there any parking restrictions in that part of high street?
