Was in the town this morning (mega crowded pavement along The Strand - buggies, disability scooters, kids, grown ups, you know what I'm saying? - not a pleasant shopping experience at all - but I digress....) as I was saying, I was in the town this morning and noticed that someone has applied to have a alcohol licence for the premises where the deli and the cafe used to be. Looks like the new ...
Just been having a look at the comments. A thought. Perhaps we could rally the troops via Facebook to help support the Dawlish bid by letting them know about the Portas bid website. I don't have a fb account so can't help out but I know that others who read this website do. Can any of you help get the word out via fb?
and here they are again but put, I think, in an easier way to read. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/apr/05/how-budget-changes-take-effect

Were Dawlish's cctv cameras working?
@neilh - suggest you ask george osborne after all he's the one whose vat idea this was. perhaps though he's now wishing he'd never suggested it as i've noticed of late that he's started to look a bit pasty* faced. (*yes, I know it's pronounced differently, but I couldn't resist it)
Wonder who'll play the pasty patsy?
@cheftallyrand - believe there was something on the very late edition of bbc spotlight last night. so there may be more coverage today - guess it all depends on what else has happened newswise locally between yesterday and today.
What I find even stranger is that a large crowd of people gathered round to watch the bag be detonated- What if it had turned out to be an explosive devise?
Eyes of Dawlish saying that it's all been due to a suspicious package being left outside by the ATM at Nat. West. in the town. Buildings nearby have been evacuated. Trains held up at Dawlish Warren and I imagine the same at Teignmouth.(imagine the knock on affect on the rail timetable). Air ambulance has now left Dawlish (watched it leave Sandy Lane) so perhaps now all sorted out?
