What will happen is that people will get in their cars and head to the nearest indoor entertainment - Torquay, Exeter, etc. thus adding to traffic congestion and doing nothing for the council's or government's so-called "green" agenda.
Brilliant idea, Lynne. Where should it be sited though as I can't think of anywhere accessible in town that's within walking distance. Otherwise, as you say there's always the Warren.
Sorry to be a doom-sayer; but we needed the rain, just not right now! Rainbow Fun House in Torquay is very good for kids when the weather's like this (plus, of course, the Monkey House in Dawlish for the smaller ones).
Make the most of the crowds while we can. Wasn't it glorious to sit by the side of the Brook yesterday afternoon in the sunshine with an ice cream from Gays. Unfortunately, rain is forecast for Easter Monday onwards.
Sounds as if she really shouldn't have been out at that time of night in such a dangerous location. Fortunately, it all ended well. Once again we have to thank the emergency services who did a wonderful job.
Was out of Dawlish until late yesterday afternoon and returned via Luscombe Hill so was unaware of what was happening. All credit to the emergency services who did a very good job in tricky circumstances; you can never be too careful and they were right to be suspicious of the suitcase as it was in a prime position. Talking about it with someone this morning, there seems to be a feeling that this ...
My Cornish friend says that all pasties made outside Cornwall are imposters anyway and should be taxed accordingly!
Tracy, when I lived up nearer "Seven Sisters", they were in my garden. A few years back the RSPB used to organise walks in the general area in order to spot them. I live nearer town now & haven't seen any for several years. Don't want to be too specific about the area - as you say, there are a few stupid people around. Again, as you say this is part of the area that Teignbridge now want to develop ...
@Nelson I know that the Strand is now open but I have been told that there is more work to be done as they found that more pipework needs to be replaced as it's in such a bad state. Apparently they have a choice - schedule it for later in the year, September I think has been mentioned. Alternatively, they are talking about carrying on over the Easter period until such time as it's finished or ...
Was this connected to the police helicopter which flew over Dawlish earlier? Who would have thought this sort of thing would go on in genteel old Georgian Sidmouth. Was this in the vicinity of Jacob's Ladder or did he not have anything to do with it?
