And I suppose your solution Bob would be to cull all teenagers, children and young people from Dawlish, leaving it for the over 40s. Alternatively, I'd guess you'd give them a hoop and stick and tell them to be grateful for that. The children are here, the children are bored. Give them a chance.

I like Dawlish as it is. It's like a favourite aunt who may be a bit past it, but still has a twinkle in her eye. Any employer in Dawlish, whether it be a pound shop or Thorntons will pay the going rate, which is whatever they can get away with - ie minimum.
And how are the minimum wage earners supposed to be able to live? I've lived here all my life, work in Dawlish and earn begger all. But if Bob's dreams come true, my young family and I will be living in the streets. That would hardly enhance the town now, will it? Bob, the wages in Dawlish will not support an upmarket town.

I think The Grand Hotel was where the block of flats are on Exeter Road, near Lanherne. Can't think of the name at the moment. If I remember rightly, there was a swimming pool where the car park now is and they used to have a pool party or something every carnival day. Vague memories as I was only six or seven when it closed about 20 years ago.
