EASTER has arrived early in Dawlish with the first Black Swan cygnet to hatch. The new arrival appeared this morning to parents Rosie and Bluey. The fluffy newborn is a welcome sign for the Dawlish Black Swan population after losing previous eggs and nests during winter storms.
RESIDENTS in Dawlish are being encouraged to support the annual No Mow May campaign. Town councillor and environmentalist Scott Williams is appealing to everyone to help make a difference. This helps boost biodiversity, with studies showing that letting lawns grow can yield up to 10 times more nectar for insects.
DOG owners will have to keep their pets off some of Teignbridge’s beaches from April. Teignmouth, Shaldon, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren beaches will be dog free until September 30. For full details on which beach areas remain open for dog walking and where restrictions apply can be found on Teignbridge Council’s website.
THE FIRST Dawlish Beer Festival proved a huge hit with hundreds of people packing into the Strand Centre to sample the choice of beers and ciders. The event was hosted by Mayor of Dawlish Cllr Anthony James to raise money for his charities.
