2p charge for a debit card transaction, please tell me which bank charges that and I am sure they will be swamped with new business customers. All card charges are negotiable to some extent as obviously the bigger the customer the more power they have to get a good deal from the bank. I once spent 25p online and used a credit card, a small merchant could not offer that service. In Dawlish many ...
Nothing has changed, I can show you hectares of land that was marked as 'greenbelt' never to be built on, now covered with wall to wall housing and shops. The World changes and much as some people don't like it it is called progress, it is hardly fair to say I'm alright Jack, I've got my house you must make do with whatever is left. Like I said, nothing has changed, years ago we were hoodwinked ...
Thanks. HTML, long time since I wrote any of that, good brain exercise, thanks again for sorting out.
Pedestrianisation will kill the Strand, to compare The Strand with a town centre which has National Stores in the pedestrian areas is ludicrous. Or is there a master plan to bring in WH Smiths, M&S, etc etc for the pedestrians who are going to be flocking to the 'new' Strand to do their shopping. What exactly is pedestrianisation supposed to achieve apart from driving away all the motorists who ...
Congratulations to the Mayor, pity most other people can't be honest and say where they stand instead of the usual waffle.
Yep, don't know why the site corrupted my post will re-do asap.
Well said dawlishbornanddead, The NIMBYs are alive and well in Dawlish. Since I moved to Dawlish I have heard 'regeneration, regeneration, ad nauseum. Regenerate WHAT, I have filled in the same questionnaires year after year, seen thousands spent on 'surveys' to achieve precisely NOTHING. My neighbours have lived here for 2 years and have kids at school here, they are leaving next month after 2 ...
Wordonthestreet is quite right about Walmart, they are opposed by Unions all over the world due to their treatment of staff and the way they treat suppliers. Yet they have become the worlds biggest retailer. Let's be honest, the majority of people shop where it is most convenient to do so.
Yes Brazilnut, you are quite right, comparing a high street which has major stores like Waterstones, W H Smith and various clothing stores with Dawlish is nonsense, there are no stores to attract anyone. If you take away parking in the Strand it will be deserted. Also agree parking is badly organised and must be more restriced to allow better access for buses amd large vehicles to get through.
Thanks for that, someone today told me the bus stop is already in the carpark at Sainsburys and there is a notice there apologising for the delay but stating the service will begin in October, not sure if the date is mentioned. I will have a look next time I shop there, probably tomorrow or Sat.
