Dawlish is (I mean was) a lovely place. Viewing old pictures, films of Dawlish always shows how nice the town used to look. The black swans, the brook and the manor gardens were not discovered they were created with a lot of effort by people many years ago. Now that it is railway line smashing season at Dawlish, my mind wonders back to speculation about a railway line from Exeter to Newton Abbot and thus avoiding the coast and the associated damage. Does anyone have any more information on this interesting rumour.

As far as we know dogs are allowed on all Dawlish beaches during the summer seasons if they are on a lead. From Town Beach (The Viaduct) dogs are allowed off the lead to Red Rock apart from the last 500 meters. From Town Beach towards Shell Cove (right turn) dogs are not allowed.
