General Discussion

All the re-generation claptrap is still being sprouted by the old school and their comrades at TDC especially the nick named hag in a hat. All I managed to glean from these meetings etc is that whatever ideas the real people of Dawlish put forward the final decisions will once again be made by outsiders who have party politics in mind, work for TDC and probably shop at Sainsbury's. At the moment ...

Parking The Strand

Is someone mucking about with the parking signs in town, as mentioned in another post the ones up near the manor house on old town street keep disappearing and reappearing with apparently different things written on them.

Its not rocket science guys, a lot of the information I try to pass on via this site is given to me by local people who also use the services of my company in addition to being customers and owners of others. Listening to people who like to talk is all part of what we do. This site is an excellent source for local information with lots of useful stuff posted by Lynne and others and as such is ...

@Warrener At last you make a correct assumption. Yes I do know quite a bit about business practice, and I also know from past experience how Sainsbury's and other retail giants operate. Its a shame you don't spend more of your internet usage time finding out the facts for yourself instead of slagging off everyone who makes a comment on here. Do you honestly believe that Sainsburys shareholders ...

If true its just another blow for the town and its traders. If it is for utility or highway maintenance then it may not be possible to claim compensation for loss of business due to I think its a section 278 authority given to the county council by government which means they do not have to give prior notice, apply for planning or anything else. They just turn up and close the road. E-mail ...

SAINSBURYS DAWLISH

Don't worry people are already returning to what they know and love. The one week wonder is slowly becoming a holiday maker luxury. Prices to high, young manager that cant cope, and staff already leaving. After carnival week and the cheap late caravan weeks nobody will want to trek out to Shutterton and hopefully trade and the town will return to normal

Hi Lynne - How would all these incoming cyclists feel about being charged to park their bikes to offset the cost of the cycle paths on Exeter Rd which none of you seem to want to use. Maybe Biker Bob could provide this service in the town center

@Warrener. The only Dicks on here are the ones that cant read the posts correctly. Nobody made any comment regarding where the rubbish came from only who has the responsibility for clearing it away. My businesses have nothing to do with holiday makers and even less to do with you. I fail to understand what your problem is with people bringing money and NEW ideas to Dawlish unless they trade in ...

Agree would appear the new council are'nt doing much about it and niether are Teignbridge. Perhaps they believe Sainsbury's are responsible now. Have you also noticed the grass verges are not being mowed along Exeter Road. Public service cuts have to hit somewhere, but I dont suppose the £9.50 sun holiday makers would notice anyway once they've got thier cheap booze from Geralds and thier imported ...

Dont know about the trains but as for parking would suggest the layby's on Exeter Road or around the community college where the teaching staff usually park. Wouldnt try the other side of town ie Coronation or John Nash or you may run into the carnival floats
