General Discussion

Thank you, Soul of Dawlish, for a supportive comment. I had decided not to explain our committee reasoning when this thread became, once more, abusive (20 Feb, 20:52) from a member of our own committee who was absent from our meeting. Our Town Council Planning Committee was, sadly, poorly attended and without any member of the public to give support or raise objections to any element of the ...

Dawlish From Above

Not much changed, but the goods siding and signal box have disappeared, and Lanherne has taken the place of the fine old house.

We have encountered cyclists along the sea wall (when it was open end-to-end) and generally they sneak up silently and then expect to hug the 'safe' side, forcing you to the edge of the wall and the 5 metre drop to the beach.  Suggestions that they should sound their bells fall on deaf ears.  Notices are required on the grounds of safety to walkers that no cycling is allowed, and they can be ...

Just a reminder that the lamp standards were installed to take banners, but they have to be limited to the brackets at the top of the standards, and this means that any image has to be vertical format/or portait if you prefer of 4:1, so it is a tall narrow strip image that is needed.  Bear in mind too that the brackets are towards the top of tall lamp standards and so any small detail is going to ...

@Margaret Swift at 11 minutes past midnight.  you say, "...and jc's comments mirror bv's to a t!" I wish to make it abundantly clear that I have no idea who Judith Chalmers is, whether I have ever spoken to this person (could be a transgender identity even?) , and am certainly not in any form of communication with her.   That does not mean that I disagree with her/his comments. I can also ...

I do wonder at the weight of judgement given to the words of planning professionals in these cases. Denise Pichler, from agents Pichler Planning, added: "There is an identified need for residential homes and there are no bespoke nursing homes in that area. The existing building is a real white elephant." Is my memory at fault when I remember Ms Pichler as a former member of TDC planning ...

Brilliant, JC, to post this.  A very clever production and edited to a tee.  Started my day well.

I thought that your extract looked familiar. It was drawn from the Town Council's recommended responses towards the draft of what became Plan Teignbridge.  The Town Council Planning Committee put a number of issues to full Council before the responses went back to Teignbridge.  Issues of land ownership were not included as everything in the local plan is subject to land owners/developers wishing ...

Thank you Mrs S for calling me arrogant twice in the space of ten hours.  Roberta is quite right. This thread is too long and not reaching a positive conclusion, even after Lynne has posted 49 times to no evident effect. There is no point in trying to get changes through the Town Council. It is the District Councillors that objectors need to reach and , as far as I can see, none of them are ...

I am glad that FGW took up my suggestion of preparing walks from the Exeter-Paignton stations. There has for some time been a very good booklet for walks from the Avocet LIne stations and that provided a model for this new booklet.  The walk from Lympstone is a favourite if timed to end with a pub lunch.
