What a grim little town Dawlish is. So grim in fact that half its residents seldom if ever venture to the town at all (so hideous is the experience). High time 'the tourism makes millions myth' is dispelled. It clearly has done nothing for this town other than line the pockets of a few selected individuals, whilst the town has been degenerated into a backward looking, shabby chav enclave. ...

You could well say the same for Dawlish which seems completely trapped in a time warp. It is quite shocking to travel just 20mins from Exeter and find yourself stepping back 30 years. It is not quaint, its just tat. Most shops and pubs awful, and have you seen the 'restaurants'! Its a great shame as the town should have so much potential. The town is run by those with a vested interest in tourism ...
