I think some of you may be missing the point. As Sainsbury have already been given planning permission to build at Shutterton Bridge and it is deemed that Dawlish needs one new supermarket only there is therefore no need for another one. So Tesco at Lady's Mile would be surplus to requirements and would also take away land that is used for tourism.

Glad you agree with me Bardwell. You'll have put in a formal objection then concerning the Tesco proposal and be encouraging others to do the same?

Tesco up market?! Pull the other one. Waitrose followed by Sainsbury I would have thought. Then Morrisons, Asda, Tesco. Then, Co-op, Somerfields. Then Lidl, Aldi and the like. And no, I don't think if it were Waitrose or Sainsbury wanting to build on Lady's Mile that that would make it okay. It most definitely would not. In answer to Bardwell's question (and please remember these are only my thoughts on the matter). Having read both the Tesco planning application (and my gawd there is a huge amount of it!) and the one from Lady's Mile to turn another piece of their land into holiday accommodation land, it seems that the reason Lady's Mile wish to do this is that it would compensate for the loss of holiday ...
