i see that the old brewery has changed hands again - has anyone tried it out yet?
so you would go to the farmers market and buy meat, veg, bread, cheese, flowers, cakes etc and then also support the local butcher, baker, candlestick maker? how does that work? the markets duplicate what is already available is all i'm saying- people need to appreciate what is on their doorsteps! the european market may bring people into town but it doesn't keep the money local.
what about the shops that already sell local produce? we've got 2 delis, bakery, butchers, health food shop - chrissy at the flower shop sells local fruit and veg - its all on our door step already - so why do we need a market one day a week? all it will do is bring people to the town for the market and the local traders here all year round will miss out! add the supermarket into the equation and ...
its really hard to run a business in the town when you don't always get support from locals and have to rely on tourists to try and make some money. its all very well complaining about " decent shops" but would you support them if they were there? there are lovely florists, local bakeries, greengrocers, butchers, delis, new clothes shops, new cafes - what is it that the locals want?
the tesco team said that it will help traders diversify? does that mean shut down?

the lady with the crutches came into where i work and asked if we sold badger ham? apparantly she saw a programme about it! they shoot badgers in america illegally and turn their meat in to ham. she thought we might have had some and wanted to buy it as she'd never had it before. she came back a week later and asked if we sold fishing rods too!!!
