We all should be grateful that we have officer Mark patroling our town. There are numerous times you see many people riding their bikes on the pavement most of which don't care how they ride them weaving in and out around people. Mark has been instrumental on getting rid of most of the druggies and alkies from the lawn area and the town, yes, we still have them from time to time. Mobility scooters ...

Cynets on the Brook.
17 Apr 2019

I do hope that this is just rumour. I heard that 5 of the 6 cygnets born a week or so ago were decimated by a fox. If so this not the first time. Or did someone take them?

Who pays the taxes in this town? How many dogs do the councilors own? Our council taxes keep going up (we got our notice today). Are we just paying for holidaymakers to have the pleasure of our beaches? Why can't there be a time factor such as dogs allowed before 9 am and after 6 pm. wouldn't that be a good compromise. This is ridiculous. Why do we keep having to be inconvenienced for visitors, ...

Hi Lynne, to be honest I have not heard a peep. I have written to the Council and never recieved any reply. I'm not for the playpark in this location. I see problems down the road, not with just maintainence but ASB during the late hours with the noise. I have informed the Council that it's become a natural habitat for wildlife that live in and around the plants and trees. During the hours of ...

Yes, some people do look for doom and gloom we have ...

This past week has been a field day for the co-op shoplifters. Joints of meat, sandwhich meats by the caseload, bottles of wine,  beer or cider by the case. You would at least think they would wait until the meat has been reduced. So come on down see what you can get. Of course we all suffer with higher prices imposed to make up for loss.

Bandstand and other
16 Oct 2018

Can't be any more open than posted unless one lives under a rock. But, will clarify for you. In the bandstand, we have what appears to be homeless people and down at the other end, we have the druggies and alcoholics. Other than that what part do you not understand? Also, the town has a major problem with shoplifting, which affects all of us with higher prices.

First, I never stated that those that appear homeless are druggies or alcoholics. And I would think that if they are in the bandstand all day and night one can safely assume they are homeless.  Yes, I agree that more should be done for those that are homeless. Suggest you read the post again.

Now that the summer season is over it's good to see that the bandstand is finally being used. Albeit that some have made the bandstand home.  For most of the day their belongings are there some of which hangs on a nail, it's always good to have somewhere to hang your coat after a hard day.  If they are truly homeless where do they go during the day, some go to church and it's not to pray. It's for ...

Thanks for sharing, I see the usual drinking club are enjoying the sunshine.
