Just heard Wetherspoons are looking for site in Teignmouth - so doubt we will get one in Dawlish now! Be interesting to see where they end up in Teignmouth? Suppose we will just have to put up with the pathetic selection of pubs we have in Dawlish or go to Teignmouth - i know where i will be going!

My daughter wanted some chips before she got the train to exeter - they were so bad she threw them to the seagulls (i know - shouldnt feed the flying rats) and the seagulls didnt eat them - thats how awful they are - flying rats wont even eat them!!!

@Paul , When you refer to "the bottom of the town" - which bit do you mean? I assume you mean Baileys! Every local knows it is awful but no-one ever says it! Food is awful and the place is filthy!!

About time the local pubs were left quaking in their shoes! Sub standard pubs & cafes need a good bit of healthy competition!

A Wetherspoons would be fantastic for the local economy! We should welcome new business and investment in Dawlish and yes we should be mindful of the potential impact on local residents and traders - but it has been proven that competition and choice can be a great thing! It would be great to see such a big player in the pub industry put its faith in Dawlish in such challenging times. ...

This subject has been talked about many times - but this town really needs a Wetherspoons type establishment. They are keen to target smaller towns and have ambitious plans to have 1600 outlets throughout the UK - they already have massively successful pubs in towns much smaller than Dawlish. Bring on Wetherspoons for Dawlish! Be the best thing that has ever happend to this failing town!! Cheap drinks and food! Wins every day - about time the sub standard pubs and restaurants of Dawlish got a kick up the backside!
