@Wondering . Yes I agree. But it should be additional, not alternative. In other words if the coastal route has engineering works or rough weather, then use the additional route. By the way, when Dawlish,etc.etc.was not getting any trains, Plymouth was getting FULL train service, with some delays.

The Western Morning News Is campaigning for a Alternative route avoiding Dawlish. I think that the WMN Is printed In Plymouth.

@Clive . I completely agree with you. The seawall still needs work done to it, and a additional/ alternitive railway is not the answer.

@michaelclayson . I totally agree with what you say. Plymouth was getting all its public transport while between Exeter st. thomas and Newton abbot were not. The Plymouth mob as I call them are determined to see a additional/alternative route avoid Dawlish and I cannot understand why they want this. The Voyagers even had trouble in rain but HST (FGW operate them), just go straight through the ...

@Mcjrpc . The crane has got something to do with the breach of the sea wall. I do not know exactly what it  is doing there.  May be someone else can tell you more. The Webcam you can have a £1 a week or £2 a month. You dont have to pay £20 a year. The crane is called Haven Seariser.

@flo - @Mcjrpc . I see Dawlish is in the news again. Which brings me nicely to a friend of mine who said they  are going to rush through the report about the coastal route at Dawlish. Apparently it was in one of the local newspapers. nobody has commented on here about it. so Dawlish should be in the news again.and that big crane has arrived at Dawlish.  I saw that while watching Dawlish Beach ...

@flo . And the first test could come this weekend with strong winds expected. especially Sunday. This Information I took from Met Office.
