Town enhancement

Compare the centre of Dawlish to the centre of Teignmouth which has a hub of shops, with a varierty of products. Many more coaches drop off people in Teignmouth for longer periods. I have spoken to coach drivers who don't stop in Dawlish as they don't want to park in Sandy lane and sit there as there isn't enough time to walk into town and back, they often ask passengers to buy them a pasty or ...

I am making no comments as I could not improve on this, a verbatim copy of Robert Steadman on the Mary Portas 'Report' I think the term that comes to mind is ‘poppycock’! We don't have a thriving high street because shoppers, in their droves, have turned their back on them. They, generally, offer a smaller range of goods at more expensive prices than out of town centres and, when car park ...

£17 000 pa not a bad salary for Dawlish.

I heard today that BIts n Bobs is closing, can anyone confirm this. If so that will be three businesses closed down in the Strand in the last two weeks. Years of talking, talking, talking and more talking have achieved nothing. There is no reason for any major retailers to set up shop in Dawlish and without such 'drawcards' the so called regeneration is a lost cause. I am guessing the 'average' ...

As I've said previously, the cost of widening High Street, almost certainly having to remove the pavement on one side, and modifying the top of Queen Street to allow the big trucks and coaches to turn into High Street, would never have been accepted, so it was a non-starter.

Sorry Brazilnut, just got in, will pick up a copy tomorrow. Took a good look at Queen Street, am sure they will have to remove the pavement on one side to make it wide enough for Coaches and Large Trucks, that will be fun. But am sure they know what they are doing, so I will say no more and just observe.

A Radical Idea

The Wee Shoppe get their stock delivered from their bakery in Teignmouth every morning so they just sell what is delivered every day as packed, am sure the thought of doing something different is completely alien. Pity, as that is normally the reason most people go to a small shop. I once wanted to place a regular order for a large quantity of scones and tried to order from their Bakery in ...

Yep, that info has been applied to almost every Govt in the World with slightly altered figures, always worth doing a google about these 'facts', and many other Urban Legends, most of these have been around for years and get as Nelson says, regurgitated every few years and presented as fact.

Car parking required

Coryton Close is fine but very difficult to find a space there days that's why I didn't suggest it, and if you want to be near the station it's just a couple of minutes walk from the Teignmouth Hill end of Westcliff Road. I am pleased to see that vehicle checks are carried out more than we realise, have seen two cars clamped for no Tax in Westcliff Road recently, the owners probably thought it ...

But a plain Fred with £700 000 per annum pension. Do you think he really cares?? Remember the Labour Party could have halved that pension when he resigned but they refused to do so, now the Tories remove his 'Sir', because he 'brought the Honours sytem into disrepute' what a joke. Jeffery Archer went to Prison for Perjury but kept his title, clearly being a criminal doesn't 'bring the Honours ...
