The information on these men is great, really interesting. I agree with Huw, blue plaques is the least they deserve, Dawlish should be proud, there can't be many towns of our size with so many connections to VC's.

Perhaps the lack of interest is because students and parents have realised that to progress to a decent university they need traditional subjects, not the woolly new ones.
Sorry but it reads likes a carefully crafted piece of propaganda. I'm not saying that there aren't women in similar situations but to imply that all people claiming benefit are purely victims of their situation/circumstances isn't accurate. and yes, I know what it's like struggling, my parents had very little, my mum went hungry to feed us kids. My dad worked all hours doing two jobs to ...
But not all people fall into the descriptions in the Church report Lynne, surely you can see that for some being on benefits is a lifestyle choice. I agree that most people who claim some sort of benefit are in real need but I know women who would rather have another child than get a job, if they have a steady partner frequently they don't bother to work either. Not all claimants are victims ...

Side issue I know but wanted to say it. back the point, sort of. At one stage I needed the benefit system and I was bloomin' grateful for it too. Only a few months but whilst I was unable to work due to sickness ...

Although they still support many local initiatives they are big business the same as any other. coop bank told my dad when he queried why their isa rates are so low 'we're so big we're buying lloyds bank so we don't need your money.' I've known several Coop staff off work with depression related ...
Love it!
@ Fred, none of the schemes had herringbone parking because to do it would have meant building out into the flower beds some sort of raised platform which was far too costly. lets just hope this will be better than the last balls up done, at least this had some consultation unlike the previous scheme!!!
Last I heard the feasibility study that was done said that it wasn't financially viable so the plan was dropped. no money was available for it either. It was the baby of cllr vickery when he was chair of the community trust so worth asking him.
