Sad news today, Bill Millin arguably Dawlish's most famous resident has died. You may know of him as being Lord Lovat's piper at the D Day landings, a character and incident recreated in the film The Longest Day. Bill was an utterly charming man and will be sadly missed. RIP Bill, God bless.

Dawlish Carnival??

What would be more interesting is what is happening about the missing funds from last year?

Apologies, Moss Side was the first example that came into my head, no offence intended. Admittedly North Prospect could have served almost as well as an example.

Seriously? do people really think Dawlish is ripe to be taken over by crack addicts? Having a fantasy life is all very well by try not to let it seep into your waking hours. Have a look around you next time you step out from behind your computer. Dawlish is a smallish, seaside town with a low crime rate, pretty good schools and on the whole a good community spirit. If you doubt how lucky you are ...

It's cancelled! No surprise there then

Dawlish Carnival??
22 Jun 2010

I wonder if the Carnival Committee know that people locally aren't that bothered by the airshow? Seems from comments here (when you wade through the insults and the personal disputes - btw thanks fro hijacking the thread for a general whinge) that people want the Carnival as it's for locals more than the airshow that's mainly for holidaymakers. My take on the views here anyway.

I heard today that the Carnival has been cancelled - any truth in this? Maybe it's the airshow as there is a lack of sponsors?
