It would have lost a awful lot of money.

Doesnt suprise me , the line up was shocking. Id have been suprised if they'd sold more than a couple of hundred tickets at most.

It's a shame but hardly surprising. Still, at least we've got the free Exe Festival to look forward to. For those that don't buy the local newspapers, this is what the Herald Express has to say about the Amber Coast Festival: A THREE-DAY festival in Dawlish Warren has been cancelled with three members of the board of directors resigning. Critics had warned that Amber Coast Events' August festival was wrongly timed for the traditionally busy bank holiday and police say the work of emergency services would have been 'severely impaired' because of the potentially 'large-scale' congestion the event could create. A decision on whether it could go ahead was due to rest with the council's licensing sub-committee at Forde House in Newton Abbot today. But yesterday Amber Coast Events called off the festival, citing a lack of sponsors and accommodation. A statement said: "This is, in the main, due to being unable to secure the sponsors at this late stage of planning for the event. "We have also taken into account the concerns of the local camp sites about the lack of accommodation for that particular weekend. We will, therefore, not be proceeding with our licence application. "The Amber Coast Events team are very disappointed with this unfortunate news but could not continue with the event without secure financial backing. This was a big blow to our planning and without this financial backing we could not commit to the expenditure that is required for an event of this size. We could have tried to continue but we would probably have ended up with a very large empty field and a lot of very disappointed people waiting at the gates. "We are all very upset by this cancellation. All advance ticket sales will be fully refunded." Amber Coast Events had applied to Teignbridge Council for a premises licence for the event to cater for up to 14,000 people per day. Belinda Carlisle, Aswad and Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers were linked with the festival along with local acts like Teignmouth rockers The Quails. At the event launch organisers apologised and had to retract a statement after mistakenly confirming they had 'booked' glam-rockers Slade. Police said the event was not suitable for the location. In a representation to Teignbridge Council, licensing officer Keith James said: "It is the effect on the local community and ability of the emergency services to manage the area as a result of this event that causes concern. "The event is to be held on one of the busiest weekends of the year when Dawlish Warren is already operating to capacity. "The event site has limited access and has the potential of causing large-scale congestion of the road network that is likely to be a nuisance to residents and road users. "The ability for emergency services to respond to their core responsibilities will be severely impaired; this will also mean possible delays in emergency access itself. "The police are not satisfied that suitable fencing isolates the entire proposed licensed site to prevent young children wandering off. "The area identified as the drop off and pick up zone gives rise to conflict between vehicle and pedestrian traffic. This puts into question the safety of people using this facility. "The police are of the opinion the event is not suitable for the licence applied for, given the location of the planned event and the expected number of people attending." Dawlish Warren Tourism chairman Simon Broom said the group 'supported' the charitable concept but felt the event was better held in June or July. Adam Dimond, Derek Collins and Sharon Collins have now resigned from Amber Coast Events.

Have to agree June or July would have been a better time. A chance to bring in more people whilst the area is quieter. Maybe a one day event to start off with would be better, and then expanded over the future years if it was a success.
