Burneside - not libel if true. Their intentions were well known before the election last May and have been noted and repeated by a Dawlish resident in the local press - strangely no action taken against him or the paper.... I think some people are doing Mrs Willoughby a dis-service here, from what I know of her, limited though it is, she's just a normal person who wanted to do her bit. Nothing ...
Burneside - no, just someone who found her pleasant but not ruthless enough to be part of the VFD campaign to rid the council of it's staff and have ultimate control (insert evil madman laugh here) Flo - I think you've just hit a nail on its head quite firmly.
My understanding is that a family member is unwell so she made the sensible decision not to stand for election as mayor. It is a time consuming role requiring attending just about all meetings and many functions etc As for resigning - when doing something for free affects your family, your health and potentially your reputation who can blame her?
Willos for carrot cake and decent mug of tea at really good price. No 1 for delicious pannini's (lovely seeded bread) Cream tea's at Old Mill Tearoom Carvery at the Smugglers (their lasagne is good too) Not quite in Dawlish but I love the Ship Inn at Cockwood - really good food. I find the Mount Pleasant Inn to be a bit hit and miss - have had some good meals but equally when they're just ...
User 4549 - I think Lynne has posted a list of the electors who called for the election not the candidates. The first six on the list are either former Lib Dem councillors or their husband/wife. I heard today that VFD do have a candidate, but I know nothing about him/her.
I've had a leaflet for the Lib Dems, nothing from VFD and I understand the Conservatives are putting up the chap who lost by 3 votes to the one who stood down! I wonder what the turnout will be. Combine general apathy with summer hols and no polling cards - it could be quite low.
Thanks for the insult AndyMac - loser indeed! I've always strived not to insult anyone personally as, with a few exceptions, I don't know the identity of the posters here - therefore I know nothing about them. I don't want to stand for Council, I have no political ambitions yet I'm fairly certain that I could do a better job than some of our current lot, not all just some. If Mrs Cracknell is ...
Actually the result was a complete shock to the Tories, they'd complacently believed they'd get in again. That was their biggest mistake, that and putting up a candidate they had barely spoken to.
Webmaster - I thought this was a discussion forum not an advertising one?
Thank you Brazilnut, I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one that thinks the way I do......
