Yep spot on. Is how it seems everywhere. People who live where they live always travel .. crazy but true. I knew a customer in another part of Devon who travelled into town once a week and was a very good customer to the shop, when they announced they were moving to the town, they nolonger came to the shop!
Has a 10 mile or so catchment area. If people here do use it will certainly make history! Barclays Bank and HSBC Bank left Dawlish due to lack of use otherwise they would still be here surely.
Amazed how everyone starts worrying about car fumes and safety of children and RTA's as a lever NOT to have a supermarket. Are you sure its safe for the little darlings to have a skate park? .. they may hurt themselves. If Tesco does come here, shopping policy is that locals will not use it unless desperate, people will still go shop elsewhere just to get away for the day from what seems to be ...
What if Dawlish Town Council offered EVERY outside trader at Newton Abbot market a free pitch in the Strand?, say for four weeks on a Friday, see what happens. Would that really wake Dawlish up and bring more trade here? If it proves to be popular the council can start to charge. The town just may buzz a bit and people may come here for other than the sea, though that is a bonus. What ya think ...
Given the fuss about Tesco ..I went down to the heart of Dawlish today especially to see the market in the Strand, with the purpose of saying 'that was wonderful and why cant it be there once in the week all year round'. Good thought, but not a good idea by what I saw. What did others think?
Once Tesco has killed off everyone they are frre to charge what they like and will .. you can then forget the DEALS. Strange how people buy veg in supermarkets for convenience and know they pay over the odds but still do it. . Rest assured all superduppatores are after your money and will place as much as they can to tempt you as you walk round. A nice big trolley will be supplied that must be ...
So Dawlish is looking to regenerate it's town centre, not have it turned into a ghost town. Well they had better hurry. Where would they get the money from they say they have to sell off some of their assets now because there is no money in their piggy. Maybe selling land at sandy lane would give them enough money to regenerate the town, give the younsters their long awaited skate park, play ...
Thank you. Confirms the point.
Yep, sums Dawlish up.
Nobody wanted it as a shop. Dawlish does not attract the big shop names. Why is there ten or even more pubs in Dawlish?
