Very true .. many shops must be thinking of 'upsticks' right now. I see no reason really to stay put.. the holiday people will shop up Exeter Road with the FREE parking, the locals are queing already lol, so trade surely has to be limited in town.

Yes, there is need for a non-sport, pub/wine bar with a proper menu.

I see there is a 'TO LET' sign outside so anyone brave can go for it!

Anotherlocal .. has just told you. Yes it was a mess in the summer, but Ive not walked by recently. No chance of a good business there as is too far for holday people to walk and the access.

Landlords really do charge. I had a shop once .. now the internet is here .. never again. The only winner is the Landlord, as you say you may as well have some kind of payment but they like to tie into a set number of years and nobody wants to do that, such a risk. I remember my Landlord saying before I signed up 'I am happy to have you as you have your own home!' .. you know his thinking.

The store needs to be on the Exeter side of town. Tesco have said it will be half the size of Newton, so surely people will still go out of town. As I said earler people never spend where they live, ...

I dont think there is any evidence that house prices go up if you have a skate park and a Supermarket nearby. Ii is probably the main reason why they dont want it otherwise they would welcome the development with open arms. Having said that, people are always complaining about high house prices, so maybe Tesco is the answer to that too 'Every little helps' lol.

I see in the Dawlish paper someone is trying to scare people into thinking that as Tesco own the Post Office, if they open the Supermarket they will relocate the PO there! What people will do to try and convert people. Tesco postings are getting a bit tired now, is time for a new subject. At the end of the day it's all about NIMBY, at least the holidaymakers are not being picked on for a ...
