Thankyou to Someone
1 Jul 2009

A friend of mine lost her bag late at night in Dawlish last week. Many thanks to the gentleman who found it, took it home and looked after it until she was able to collect it. I believe that most people are honest and helpful, but it can never be taken for granted and is always appreciated. Don

"Dullish" Exposed

User4549, He was a good example of someone with whom I felt I disagreed on almost everything. However, as I say, he did stimulate me to inform myself. Don

Roy, I only found the forum in August last year, a day or two before sign-in was required. It was about then that the Anon bloke stopped making his posts. I have often wondered what happened to him. I was thinking about Dullish yesterday - His posts caused me to do all sorts of research into Rotary and Round Table charitable donations. (and I have wondered whether you were Dullish but ...

DEBATE????
29 Jun 2009

The sad thing is that almost everyone on the forum does have useful things to contribute. I have been stimulated to check legislation and further explore information contributed by those who may know more about a topic, irrespective of their own viewpoint. I feel that those who post personal insults or remarks trashing opposing views often do themselves a disservice. One can often miss a valid ...

Inspired by the film, "Spartacus", I wonder whether we should all preface our posts with, "I am the voice of reason." It seems appropriate as we all obviously believe that we are and it might divert the attention of the staff here. Wait a minute..... How did that work out in the film? Frivolling, Don

In post-squash Sunday afternoon mood, I am frivolling, delighted to discover that the word exists after deciding that it ought to (to the extent of using it anyway, even if it didn't)and looking it up. In such a frame of mind, I have entangled myself in double negatives. Is there a big difference between, Not guilty of nothing and Not innocent of nothing? Help! You can get yourself into the ...

This is Innocence
28 Jun 2009

Innocence (Dedicated to those who are not personally responsible. Without you, this would not be possible. ) I have caught tears in my mouth, washed in the dust of the dead, burned the grass in the meadows, watched the fires spread. I was told by my leaders to kill in my country’s fight. Crimes are defined by victors, We say what’s right. I flew into a building to tear apart people’s ...

User4549, I think that your idea of abandoning this discussion is sound. Few uncommitted (in more than one sense) people are likely to burrow this deeply into more than 50 posts. You and I can blissfully look forward to sharing a cell in a future where we have been found guilty of something we "might have done, given half a chance, M'Lud." ..... Sorry about the interruption. There was someone ...

After the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, one of the victims survived long enough to answer the question, "Who shot you?" His reply? "Nobody shot me." Don

I am pleased that you taken my post in good part as I never intend to be offensive. I am not sure that we are the same person but I have been accused of always agreeing with you. Don
