Excellent letter from Peter and Pam Cross, and Ali Aitchison, I totally agree. There is plenty of parking off Strand, we don't need cars blocking it. Dawlish has to move on.

Olympic Torch Route

The London 2012 site answered my question: Where will the Torch actually be carried by a Torchbearer? We want to give our Torchbearers who carry the Olympic Flame a sense of occasion and a crowd helps with that. So what's its route between Teignmouth and Exeter? The interactive map shows a straight line between the two. Perhaps it's going to fly!!? http://www.london2012.com/olympic-torch-relay-map

Anyone doing a standard 9-5 working week only has a couple of hours to get there on Thursday evening when they probably have family commitments! Why isn't it also on Saturday and Sunday as well? Dawlish is in a valley - there is no obvious route for a relief road and why would you want one? Most traffic approaching Dawlish from either the Exeter or Teignmouth sides of the town is heading to Dawlish, not past it. That's one of the more charming aspects to the town, it's not actually on the way to anywhere!
