So what's its route between Teignmouth and Exeter? The interactive map shows a straight line between the two. Perhaps it's going to fly!!?
The London 2012 site answered my question:
Where will the Torch actually be carried by a Torchbearer?
We want to give our Torchbearers who carry the Olympic Flame a sense of occasion and a crowd helps with that. As a result, Torchbearers will carry the Olympic Flame in many rural communities but it is not a continuous Relay of people passing the Olympic Flame to each other. Between communities, the Olympic Flame will be driven through less well populated areas in a vehicle, in what we call 'convoy mode'.
I always thought it was a continuous relay. Silly me!
