You are both right. The Town Council has renewed the previous planning approval to redevelop as flats, BUT we understand they'd be unlikely to sell for as much as they bought it for one year ago! If you look at the site and surroundings you can see how tricky it will be to work on that contained site, and there is no access for parking to be provided. Because it is contentious the Town Clerk has ...

Do you know how to join it? What is its constitution ? What will it do for Dawlish? Who else will join and how much time must they devote to it? Who is going to pay the membership fee?

Last week three former Town Mayors and about forty other people turned up at short notice for a press photo to publicise the discontent over the Town Council's purchase of the old Salvation Army hall in Dawlish - see this week's Dawlish Gazette. The building has been unused since the Town Council bought it for Council offices only six days after a public meeting where the Mayor said "It's not a ...

Railway Signal Box

I'm interested to know if anyone supports Wally Protheroe's recent publicity over the reconstruction of the signal box at the edge of the platform on Dawlish Station at a quoted £200,000 ? For myself, I see it as redundant since 1956 (when siding removed and signalling transferred) , not especially historic (built in 1917) and badly corroded and almost irrepairable. Is it not the right time to ...

It may come and we could all be richer, for the council tax rate in non-Quality Council Teignmouth is half that of Dawlish.

Do read the Dawlish Gazette occasionally. It does contain news, and answers.

The regeneration plan accepted by Teignbridge is the Amberline Coast 36 projects commissioned by the Town Council. TDC have read the report but will not be the body to push progress on any of it. Dawlish Town Council has identified only five projects to develop in the first five years of the plan, being *" A new beach play area at Dawlish Warren with some covered space " - needs funding by DTC ...

Actually, Froneterman, the viaduct will be painted this year in a contract Network Rail will let in early September, and it will include the masonry abutments and piers, so it's not just a paint job but a proper spring clean. In this long thread there's not much mention of the 72% of household shopping which is done at present in supermarkets in Exeter or Newton (incl KingsT). That's what may be ...

Yorkshireman is wrong to say that councillors pocket £14k. There are no allowances given to Town Councillors, and that is what this thread is about, it seems. The £200K for Town Centre improvements is only part of the Sainsbury's Section 106 agreement. How it's used depends on how much care anyone took to look at the Devon Highways displays in December and ask questions before leaving ...

Did you find anything relating to Dawlish events in the review of 2010 in the Dawlish Post? Was there a mention of the uproar and referendum over the proposed closing down of the Manor House, the visit of Princess Sophie to open the amazing youth facility of the Red Rock centre, Sandy Lane, or the rescue of two girls from the sea wall by young men of Dawlish? I couldn't find them, but I did find ...
