I've checked out the market the last three months, but although I commend the bravery of the traders for standing in the freezing weather, there's not been anything I want to buy. Most of the problem is that it's no longer a farmers market, and half of the stalls no longer sell food. Get a better balance (like the reinstated Teignmouth market) and I'm sure the punters will be there, including me. ...
The local paper tells us the delay is the fault of Tesco's who are attempting legal manoevering to thwart the Sainsbury's build. Wish they'd shut up and let us have our supermarket. Thanks a bunch Tesco! Bardwell
So, thank you Mr Brown. But if you still have an income now is the vwery best time to trade up houses, when the differential is massively reduced. The lucky ones should go for it (always supposing they can sell their own house first. Bardwell
At least the good news seems to be that at last the council is/may be doing something to support the farmers market. But what happenened to the regeneration project which seemed to have all this in hand - but in a different way? Bardwell
Not longwinded; very interesting! I've seen a few tickets issued this year for being on yellow lines, but haven't seen anyone checking tickets on main streets. Perhaps the Council took your advice to heart!
Not sure I quite followed that - so we don't have to pay now to park in the Strand? Similarly Brunswick?

It would be nice if someone could start a post - any post - without it being hijacked by the special interest brigade. Of whom there seem to be less than a handful, but they have ended up stifling free debate on this forum. Perhaps I should suggest that ...
There are currently signs along Dawlish seafront warning swimmers not to enter the sea from Dawlish to Coryton because of sewage contamination. The signs seem to have been amended from reading 'from Dawlish Warren to Coryton'. Does anyone know any more about this?
Congratulations must surely be due to Dawlish resident Toby Buckland who has been announced as the new 'front' presenter of BBC's Gardeners' World. His first programme is due next Friday evening. He follows in a long line including Percy Thrower, Alan Titchmarsh and most recently Monty Don. May he do as well as they have. There are more details about Toby in this weeks Radio Times, last Friday's ...
However, most of the summer's 'immigrants' to Dawlish have gone home again, noticeably fewer this year but with what effect to the local economy? Can we do without them, and if we have to, what will the changes be to the local economy without the tourists? This year you could normally walk down the Strand without too much difficulty, but is that minor luxury likely to kill the local economy? Or ...
