Who's to know if Tesco's haven't suffered the same level of data loss - we'd just never be told as they have no responsibility to Parliament as do public bodies.

The Teignmouth market ground to a halt after difficulties with the location and what was seen as an unhelpful attitude from Teignbridge council, who were not noticeably supportive of the Dawlish one either. Many of us would welcome either back; there was some excellent produce.

I'm surprised, looking at other posts on this site, at how unconcerned many Dawlish residents seem about the potential loss of the Sandy Lane sporting facilities. Just for an exploitive major supermarket. I like my food, but really! Where are the alternative sporting facilities in Dawlish? Or is the consensus that all of us locals should now join the worst of the holidaymakers wobbling up and down ...

The most fun most of us locals have in carnival week is the pram race. And it's cheap and held together by the good will of the local people. Everybody has a good time. Perhaps a lesson here for the organisers when they consider the merits/expense of the air show.

It seems typical that there was apparently no form of consultation before they gaily went ahead with wasting public money. 'Never apologise, never explain' should be the Teignbridge motto. A similar apparently inexplicable waste of money is the mess that the Council has laboriously made of the lane between Powderham Castle and the Exe.
