Whoever made the call to remove the bus lay bys needs to be committed to a nuthouse.

I presume though that no actual index-linked pesnion drawing civil servant would do anything so rash as stick their hand up and take responsibility.

Cars simply overtake the stationary buses, obvously.... right into the path of fast-travelling oncoming vehicles.

Can't be long before there is a fatal crash.

I am glad someone else thinks the same. What a bloody stupid I idea to remove the bus lanes. Some idiot at Teignbridge no doubt. Nothing better to do, than spend Tax payers money on stupid ideas. Notice no one at Teignbridge ever replies to any of forum posts, pretty hard to argue with the facts I guess.

The person responsible should be sacked instantly and the bus stops changed back.

THE IDEA WAS TO SLOW DOWN TRAFFIC IT IS A OFFENCE TO CROSS THE ECHELON MARKINGS TO OVERTAKE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WAIT THEREFORE CAUSING A TAIL BACK WITH DOZENS OF ANGRY DRIVERS I BELIEVE ITS A ENDORSABLE OFFENCE 3 POINTS AND A 60 QUID FINE STUPID IDEA THERE WILL BE A SERIOS ACCIDENT THEN THEY WILL CHANGE IT BACK AND WASTE MORE OF MY TAX MONEY

It seems typical that there was apparently no form of consultation before they gaily went ahead with wasting public money. 'Never apologise, never explain' should be the Teignbridge motto.
A similar apparently inexplicable waste of money is the mess that the Council has laboriously made of the lane between Powderham Castle and the Exe. From a country lane this has been converted into something that looks like a racetrack, complete with Chicanes. Apparently this is considered by the council to have been 'upgraded' to a standard suitable to mesh in with a series of existing cycleways. Really handy, if you're on a bike, to have to keep swerving out into the traffic at all of these chicanes. All this involved many weeks work, and presumably much money. These people are crazy!

Its nice to able to agree with every comment made regarding the lunacy of the bus stops. When there is a serious accident they (council) with say 'We will learn from our mistake' it will be too late then. Why is it the buses from Dawlish to Teignmouth always manage to stop in a position so that the Island stops you overtaking when you can see its clear to do so.
