I know we keep going on about Teignmouth and I am also aware that the carnival committee work hard every year but we really need some new entertainment.

The swan is no longer aloud to play music because of one complaint.

The fait is no longer aloud to play music because of complaints

The Steel band which is awful are on there 5th year. Lets see a good local band playing like dave cant dance. A group that is going to keep the crowds on the lawn and not all over town in the pubs. Lets give people something to cellebtrate and watch. We can pull so many more people in from surrounding towns a make so much more money to pump back in.

Its for one week of the year. Lets move forward. Lets be positive and get this town on the map again.

I don't think its as good as it used to be, there are getting a little tired everywhere and predictable. I know hours of work goes into setting it up.
About five years ago there was a good music festival on the lawn. If the red arrrows were dropped you would spend less money on a better Carnival and for all to join in and would pull people from around.
I am surprised the Lawn is not used for all kinds of shows throughout the year, Vehicles etc.
Small fair around the edge seems ample for the two-three weeks, I see little need for the fair to take over the while lawn as people dont seem that interested in the 'win this bear' etc.

I agree. The Carnival is getting a little tired with the same stuff every year.

I what a good idea fro the lawn. Used for different events throughout the year, not just for music, but different shows to pull in the punters.

Every year the Carnival gets more and more like a commercial event. The lawn is filled with fair rides, this year because it was ruined by the fair when the rain came they had to fence part off because it couldn't be used.

The air show is great but this year the Carnival has made a loss - a big one apparantly.

How are they going to fund next year's show?

Is the air show just certain people's own way of achieving status? Allowing them to swan around like the great I am.

What happened to community values and community spirit? Are they too old fashioned to matter any more?

Does anyone agree that it would be nice to just for one year forget the big stuff and just have fun in a traditional way, have fun inexpensive entertainment.

Also there was a time when the Carnival was able to make quite a few charitable donations - now I suppose all the money goes on paying for the air show.

I know it brings people in to the town but not all businesses benefit - only those serving food items after all who wants to watch the air show carrying bags of gifts for them back home!

Yes I agree it would be nice to forget the big stuff for one year and just have traditionl fun but I can't see that happening.
As for donations made to local charities I can't see that either as I believe it being a entertainment organization which means money raised should be spent on entertaining the public.

Fair enough about the entertainment organisation bit, but it wasn't that long ago that I went to a carnival AGM to receive a donation for an organisation I belonged to at the time. There were quite a few of us there doing the same thing.

i'm sure the commitee would be interested to hear anyones views, positive or negative, why not voice your opinions to them, they're pretty easy to contact through the carnival site.

The Party in the Park was successful a few years ago. Why has this not been repeated?

The most fun most of us locals have in carnival week is the pram race. And it's cheap and held together by the good will of the local people. Everybody has a good time. Perhaps a lesson here for the organisers when they consider the merits/expense of the air show.

I'm a huge fan of the local Dawlish band *DAVE CANT DANCE*. I've lost count of the number of times I have seen them play. For the last three years they have entertained everyone after the Teignmouth Carnival and what a fantastic evening it always is.
Come on Dawlish Carnival Committee ditch the steel band and promote and use some real local talent EVERYONE can enjoy.

I've sent them e-mails before with healthy suggestions...Did they reply...Did they hell. They have their ideas set and what others think doesn't count.
How about sending out a questionaire to find out what people would like to see, not what the committee think the people would like to see.
Change is good.
