Depends on what's waiting for you at the other end @wondering . If you travel regularly between two cities, I imagine you've taken in your surroundings many times and perhaps all you want to do is get home to your loved ones as soon as you can. Or maybe not!
Meanwhile it will still take five and a half hours to travel the 300 miles between London and Penzance.
@TheObserver . i like your town shop colour scheme idea. there are some very garish paint jobs and a mishmash of shop fronts. if there was a broad theme, it could look attractive without being bland.
It may be Network Rail/FGW responsibility, but in the absence of any interest from them, is there anything that can be done to brighten up Dawlish station - hanging baskets, raised beds etc? For anyone taking the scenic route along the sea wall, stepping off the train at Dawlish is a major letdown and a terrible advertisement for the town. It's not like that at Teignmouth or Dawlish Warren, so ...
@gamer @Gadget . The website was still telling me it's not available so I called BT sales. She told me the same and she had no information as to when it will become available. Computer says no... reminded me of why I got rid of BT all those years ago. I just checked a random address on Strand Hill and it told me that it was available so it must be that I'm not connected to one of those ...
@Gadget I checked my postcode for BT Infinity and it just says 'Coming Soon' with a scheduled roll out date for Dawlish of Sept 2013. I'd be interested to know how you get on. Thanks.
Excellent! If I'd known about this earlier I'd have tried to muster up a bus full just to freak them out.
As someone who was critical of many aspects of Carnival week, I thought the Airshow and entire weeked was fantastic, right through to Monday night in the Marquee. Hopefully it's clear for all to see that collaborating rather than being a closed shop is in the town's interest. I was very proud to see how Dawlish raised its game. More of the same please!
Shame I can't get down to the Warren, but from where I am it's certainly sounding lively in the centre of Dawlish.
I hear the committee's been approached to head up the Notting Hill Carnival next year but they've fallen out because three of them are vying for Rio.
