A pair of bridges drawn up for a sea defence scheme in Dawlish, Devon, following severe storms more than six years ago have been given planning. The link bridge will sit alongside the existing historic viaduct and will bridge the pedestrian promenade over the outlet of Dawlish Water. The breakdown of the 190 homes to be built is as follows; 168 -open market 22 - affordable housing The affordable housing to be provided is as follows; 7 x 3 bed 9 x 2 bed 6 x 1 bed The above affordable housing (AH) should be a mix of 15 units for affordable rent and 7 for shared ownership.

A shed and a garage on a Dawlish street were broken into at approximately 4am where a thief stole tools, including a new axe, and a child's bike. The go ahead has now been given (with various provisos) for the 190 homes to be built. However, from reading the planning documentation it appears that the 64 bed care home and the employment land were not included in this planning permission and will thus be subject to separate planning applications - sometime in the future.

From the minutes of Dawlish town council planning committee meeting held 1.10.20 RESOLVED by majority of Members present and voting that this council recommends NO OBJECTION to this application. @HuwMatthews2 - suggest the site at Langdon where the 64 bed care home is supposed to be built. Why? Because I think a cathedral has more chance of being built there than any care home.
