Blimey, the ideas for a novel about a small town and the machinations concerning its carnival just gets better and better. Trouble is, it wouldn't be a work of fiction would it?

My daughter and her friends were at the Brunnie last night. Daughter says The Brunnie was positively heaving with people and that pram race contestants were calling in there.

I'm toying with the idea of drawing JK Rowling's (she of Harry Potter fame) attention to all of this. After all she had a book published last year about small town politics (The Casual Vacancy) so perhaps she might like to write a sequel about small town carnivals. Perhaps we could ask for a slice of her royalties and have it donated to an event in the town. Any thought on what event? Carnival ...

Have checked the job again. It's a vacancy for an Air Traffic Control Assistant (as in being an assistant to the air traffic controllers) as opposed to it being a vacancy for an Assistant Air Traffic Controller (which is what I originally typed). The placing of that word 'assistant' does, actually, make an awful lot of difference.
