Whatever these politicians come out with, they always seem to manage to put their foot in it. I seem to remember that they pay thousands of pounds to advisors and consultants and still they can't get it right.
You need more family-orientated events like the Party in the Park, both for visitors and for local families. Look how successful Carnival is and how many people it brings into the town. We can't do anything about the weather but better policing of the town and more facilities for children like outdoor play areas would also help regenerate the place.
Also don't forget the optician. Without which I wouldn't be writing/reading this.
I do not accept the justification for paying these bonuses "they will go and work elsewhere". These are the incompetent bloody people who got us into this mess in the first place. No one would miss them if they slung their hooks forever, only a few wine bars and lap-dancing clubs in the city of London, maybe.
Happy New Year to all the users of this site. No use wishing for a prosperous one in the circumstances, just be happy & healthy.
Merry Christmas everyone. Look after yourselves & those dear to you.
Cool it chaps. We can't have this aggression in our pleasant little seaside town. Just kiss & make up. Whoops! Nice to hear from you Don. You're in the best place at the moment. The brass monkeys are all hiding from the elements.
Well done, Andy Mac. Both for praising the new library & managing to patronise its older customers at the same time.
I hadn't heard about the tip closing either. Suppose it is down to the cuts. I always go to Brunel Road as there are more recycling facilties there & anyway Shutterton is only open very limited hours.
Thank you Cal. I had the same problem & did what you suggested. I've since logged out & come back in so it obviously works permanently.
