I don't mind fireworks too much, the dog doesn't like it but we can usually fit in a long enough run for him not to get too distressed in the evening.  It's the odd firework let off 'willy nilly' I object to.  Fireworks are dangerous, there's about 1000 injuries each year (stats available up to 2005, they are no longer collected!). Police say a World War Two mortar has washed up at the beach in Teignmouth. Its in the sea near the lighthouse.  Apparently it was live, had no fuse and they've taken it away to detonate safely. Two women from Dawlish were rescued by an Exeter police helicopter yesterday after they became lost on the moors after dark.
