@Webmaster . No problem. You’re welcome. But I don’t think you understand the points I’m making. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but news items posted by Dawlish News (which is mostly the Mid Devon Advertiser/Dawlish Gazette as there are always links to their online papers) often don’t receive any comments at all. These posts don’t have the effect of stimulating debate. And I doubt any ...
Why is the Discussion section being treated as if it were a general noticeboard? There are separate sections for News, Events, Notices, etc. And very useful and informative they are too. But why are News, Events, Notices posts also in the Discussion section? If I want to see what's in the local News, Events, Notices I can click on the relevant section. By all means post ...
@Cassandra Could you expand on that? This is the discussion section after all. I don't know if you read the original post or looked at the link, but Expat's comment is accurate. Dawlish was an elegant seaside resort in Georgian and Victorian times - mainly due to three men who by the way weren't from the town. Given that it was originally a small fishing village, a lot of people would've moved ...
Expat's description is accurate. Maybe Expat like a lot of us believe Dawlish could be much better. That's not running down a place or it's people, a lot of seaside resort towns have seen better days.
@Carer I don't really expect any Lib Dem Councillors or voters/supporters to comment. But it is worthwhile bringing attention to the fact that won't ever engage in debate about their severley suspect administration in Teignbridge District Council and highlighting their many failings. Whether in Council Chambers where they deny opposition motions or with the public in person or online. There are ...
Why does it take a petition which was started by a Councillor to try to get any action? What does it say about our Councils and Councillors that they have to resort to a petition? It's all very last resort isn't it. Don't people know that Mayor Rosie Dawson who started the petition as well as being a Dawlish Councillor is a Teignbridge District Councillor too? She is a Lib Dem ...
@1263 Agreed they're all just establishment 'yes' men and 'yes' women, mainly men of a certain age bracket, class and dominated by their own egos. I'm all for Independents, but not the likes of Independent Voices for Dawlish (at least the 2023 version) who were basically organized by two disaffected Lib Dems and offered nothing different to the Lib Dems and Tories.
@1263 Wrigley has started campaigning early. He moved to Cockwood in the late 90s with his now ex-wife and rude children. He's originally from the Bath area or nowhere at all perhaps being from a Navy family which moved around a lot. At one point he wanted Cockwood to break away from Dawlish and create a separate Parish Council. Most likely to control planning in the village and prevent ...
@1263 This year in particular. He wants to become MP full stop. Where and representing whom probably doesn't matter at all.
The Queen Street disaster in Newton Abbot rumbles on. District Council Leader Martin Wrigley (Dawlish NE) who is also leader of Teignbridge Liberal Democrats wants to become our next MP. As Council Leader since May and Highways and Traffic Orders Committe (HATOC) Chair in his capacity as Devon County Councillor he has completely ignored the views of residents and traders in Newton Abbot in ...
