Deli Delicious have phoned me to let me know when something I have asked for is back in stock, even if it has been weeks after I was last in there. That sort of customer service from local shops will not be provided by a supermarket.
and, of course, everyone who is opposed to having a royal family would rather have a dictator.
@MugOnHead , wriggler, Unless I am a moron (as my dad always claimed) the comment was made about the Nazi comparison, not about the main part of the post.
The views of local people count for a great deal but both Teignmouth and Dawlish are tourist towns. The opinions of people who have visited are also important, whether positive or negative, and should not simply be dismissed because we don't like what they are saying.
I saw a couple of posts about the official opening on Eyes of Dawlish and had a takeaway last night. I thought the food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Well worth a try.
My daughter is married to a Kiwi and lives in Western Springs in Auckland. I have been out there twice and this time last year I was camping in the Waipoua forest. I love NZ and the food is marvellous - my only disappointment is the cheese. I have found no local cheeses to compare to the best English cheeses.
I prefer the biscuits from the local pet shop but my cats insist on Go Cat. However, they do seem to agree with my taste in fresh food and are happy to share it if I turn my back for a moment. They also like Marmite but they have yet to try Vegemite, unlike my granddaughter whose mum gives her Marmite and whose dad gives her Vegemite If cheftallytand wants a flavour of home, Deli Delicious stocks ...
Kate's Great Catch in Teignmouth is good for fish and game but no hapuka, I'm afraid. Has frozen game and can get hare if you ask. Lloyd Maunder's is good for beef and has good smoked streaky bacon. Before Christmas they had phesants and partridge. Ask around for the best pasties which are excellent. There is nothing to compare with NZ pies. Plenty of good cheese - look for Quicke's cheddar ...
One important item in Leatash's list of actions is "Shop rents were subsidized to allow new business to start." I can imagine ten years of debate and inaction over that in the various council chambers. Maybe I am cynical. Don
I can't keep track of that either. Certainly in Teigmouth a while ago, some parking was managed by Teignbridge and some by Devon.
