The first sections of the new accessible footbridge for Dawlish station were lifted in by crane overnight this weekend. They are made of pre-cast concrete and will be installed gradually over the coming weeks on Saturday nights, as the work can only be safely carried out when trains aren’t running. They are used to help calm adults and children that have faced traumatic experiences.
