There's 3 companies bidding to produce it, one UK, one French and one German. Sounds like the beginning of an un-PC joke ...
@burneside - your right. It could equally say 'Fabrique en France' - which in a way would be very appropriate given the amount of French already on the front of our passports.
leatash, 42 yrs ago you have just found out, you were told a lot of bull. 60 odd yrs ago I found that out - what took you so long? And the bull shit continues.
@Lynne Unlike at present, after Brexit we will have the freedom to make individual trade deals with any country in the world, but of course you already know that. Can you provide the source for your claim that our new blue passports will be produced in Germany?
So do I take it then that you would have been equally okay with EU nationals not needing to have a passport in order to enter the UK?
Lynne i realised that just making a point one of the reasons i voted to join was the promise of no passports for travel to the EU. So in reverse i voted leave and one of the many reasons for doing that was i had been told a load of bull in 1975.
I will give my two pennyworth regarding the colour, for what it is worth. I don't care a toss.
I didn't realise that our post Brexit trade deals had already been sorted out. Is what you are claiming an actual fact? Do you know something that Liam Fox and David Davies do not?
I didn't realise the contract to produce the new passports had been awarded to a German company, is that an actual fact? Of course, under EU procurement regulations public contracts over a certain value are obliged to be tendered across the EU. After Brexit, we will be free to "buy British" and support our own industries, that's another way we will be taking back control.
Click on this link - it might explain things. ( I'll give you a clue -the UK is not a member of Schengen) https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/schengen-visa-countries-list/
