Both Dawlish and Teignmouth have X-Ray facilities, but neither are available every day. The proposed changes will provide a much better service for both towns, open 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. The alternative will be to use the MIU at Newton Abbot with the eventual closure of both local hospitals.
The strengthening of the seawall at Dawlish won't stop a couple of minor delays caused by big waves, in the same way that an alternative route away from the coast won't stop delays caused by leaves on the line, snow, flooding or the hundreds of other things that cause disruption.
