Dawlish News

@Likeablerat As I have already pointed out to others, you have no knowledge of my present domestic circumstances.

The wood louse plan was flawed from the start, if CCF had not rejected it then I highly suspect TDC would have done so at the planning stage.  I see the face saving has already started.  The local elections next year will be interesting, I suspect certain councillors could receive a kick in the ballots.

It's not the lycra, it's some cyclists' total disregard for road and pedestrian safety that gets people angry.  I've yet to see a motorist drive along the middle of the pavement, or up a one-way street in the wrong direction.

Has the CCTV ever been effective in actually assisting the police with a successful prosecution?  From what I hear it doesn't work after dark.

Public funds are usually ringfenced to secure essential services or projects, how on earth does a path for the cycling fraternity fall into that category, what have they done to deserve such preferential treatment?

It used to be fairly common for workers' canteens to subsidised, but I haven't known such an arrangement for years.  Am surprised it still exists.

I'm not sure having a booze licence will make much difference, people who want to enjoy a drink on the beach already take their own.  I would be interested to learn exactly what kind of live events they intend to stage, just how much space at the cove does the hut leaseholder get for their money? It is, after all, a refreshments hut - not an entertainment venue.  Anything that disturbs the peace ...

I am very disappointed to read that the bridge is going to be painted grey, what could be more boring?! This is a seaside town, it should be bright and welcoming, Torquay has managed to put a bit of colour into its bridge, so why can't we?  I suppose the grey colour will at least complement the equally dull viaduct bridge.

I think some people are forgetting it was the old administration that made the disastrous decision to purchase Park Road (of which cllr Bloomfield was a member), but it is the new administration which has had to sort out the sorry mess.
