General Discussion

I run a business, I employ staff (some of whom recieve tax credits and disabillity benefits), I have a family, I pay tax, use the NHS, the economy growing has had no impact on me, my staff and my family. The services I use are stretched to breaking point and regardless of the Bull**** politicians from all parties spout it isnt going to get any better for the average man for a long time. The ...

Paul the benefit dependancy culture was not created by the Labour party. It was created by all parties but enhanced by the Thatcher government during the 80's. Working classes found their industries being sold or closed from under their feet and, in certain areas of the country there was no alternative employment. The situation we are in now is a legacy from the past but the present government ...

@roberta @leatash thank you for your kind comments in earlier posts. @wondering yes, every government should support everybody as best they can. the petty bickering and attempts to out do each other between the parties has gone way to far and to the detriment of the british people. the constant releasing of misleading information from both sides to win votes, create fake empathy or ...

@leatash , as i am about to leave home for another 14 hour day (note the time of this post!) i feel reassured and confident that a government minister says the future is bright, after all, if a government minister says this then it must be true !  i must be one of those ' hardworking ' people that they keep patronising.

Some of the sweeping statements made by some on here are seriously alarming. I run a business employing 22 people, much as I would have liked to, I have not been able to give them a pay rise in four years and in order to keep them in jobs I have cut my own pay to the extent that I take home less than my staff.  Comments blaming Labour or praising the Tories are simply not relevant, fact is they ...

So the economy is improving eh, the NHS in crisis, police cuts, local government cuts, the state of the roads, lack of affordable housing, zero hours, part time and temporary cotracts, the list goes on. Sucessive governments throw out figures only to serve their purpose. Those figures are manipulated for their own ends. The figures given are not real world figures and once again the partisan posts ...

So Sad

Following a tragic accident on christmas eve a trully inspirational teacher lost his life. Nick Mutton taught both of my children and he bought them on in leaps and bounds. A big man in both stature and presence his ability to nurture our young people was undoubtable. My daughter was in tears when she heard the news. This is a very sad loss and my sincere thoughts and wishes go to his family at ...

I have just read that the government has decided to change the definition of fuel poverty by ammending the Energy bill. Fuel poverty will be defined as follows: 'Those with above average fuel costs which leaves them with a residual income below the official poverty line' This manipulation of the figures will mean 800000 wil be considered not in fuel poverty. It just proves once again that our ...

In principle I found myself agreeing with many of the things RB said, although there was no substance to it many of the points he made were valid. This  country has been governed by see saw politics for far to long, each party slating the other, and when either get into power they blame the last for the countrys problems, we somehow allow this to continue !  Some of the partisan comments I read on ...
