Did anyone see the Jeremy Paxman interview of Russell Brand on Newsnight a couple of nights ago?  Very illuminating, and here's an interesting analysis of the perceptions people have of RB and his perceptions of politics .....

Have seen him on Question Time and it changed the way I see him.  He came across very positively.

Agreed.  I'd always been a bit scathing of him but he had some interesting perspectives and, although he lacked some of the detail that Paxman was looking for, he put across some compelling arguments quite cogently.

I have  spoiled my ballot papers for decades because I never find a party or candidate that will represent my views.

In principle I found myself agreeing with many of the things RB said, although there was no substance to it many of the points he made were valid. This  country has been governed by see saw politics for far to long, each party slating the other, and when either get into power they blame the last for the countrys problems, we somehow allow this to continue !  Some of the partisan comments I read on here truly concern me, people seem convinced that their party is doing a great job. That view  can only depend on your position in society and we all need a little more compassion to understand that we are not all in the same social situation. This is the 21st century, we need governance that reflects the times we live in and acts in the very best interests of the country and ALL of its people. Many of us simply tolerate the dated, failing party political system because there is no alternative, it's good the see someone step forward just to merely suggest there should be.
