Cycle path
11 Mar 2019

Driving past the golf course down to Teignmouth on Saturday, I passed two individual cyclists 50m apart. It would have been much easier to pass them if they had been riding two abreast (just the one overtake to make then).

Lycra louts about.

Back at the point... Groups of cyclists, unless racing, will almost never cycle three abreast or more (unless someone is passing someone else). most likely what @DEEDOODLE saw was sereral pairs of cyclists all two abreast, but staggered slightly when seen from behind. Bit like this: | | | | | | | | (which looks like three abreast seen from behind).

so @leatash if you are coming from the 2n4 garage, you should go all the way down to tuck's plot and start again from there.... how does that one work...?

That sounds a very sensible approach. Where would you prefer them to have crossed the road to reach the cyclepath?

@DEEDOODLE when i cycle down that bit (on the road), i'm going faster than the cars. so what's the problem? @leatash shall i list for you all the car drivers i saw breaking the road traffic acts today? (don't tell anyone, but i broke the speed limit a bit in my car too. yes, cyclists do drive cars as well...)

Anyone like to speculate on why cyclists use the road instead of the path sometimes? Anyone?

I may be being thick, but if the cyclepath is dangerous for cyclists to share with pedestrians, why do people complain about cyclists being on the road instead?

Cassandra comlaining about cyclists on the road, and Margaret Swift complaining about cyclists on the cyclepath.... Hmm...

@DEEDOODLE - why is it ok for people with disabilities to use mobility scooters but not bicycles? Is it the extra wheels that makes it better?

A couple of weeks ago I cycled along the front at Exmouth, and the main problem I had was inconsiderate motorists slowing me down...
