A speeding car crashed through a stone wall along the Exeter Road last night. The car then hit an electric pylon bringing down live cables. The car ended up on its roof but the driver managed to climb out through a window and leave the scene of the accident.
Just walked along the beach and through Tucks Plot. It was great to see so many people enjoying the beach, also the cafe's along Piermont Place really busy. The station car park was full and cars were driving around looking for somewhere to park. I think what Dawlish needs more than anything is a good size car park, even a two storey by the station whould be better than none.
I read with great interest an artical in this weeks Dawlish Gazette which said"echelon parking in the strand a no-go". The reason given the trees on the lawn are in good health. The trees that were felled a few years ago to make way for the skate park at Sandy Lane were also in good health. I know because i spoke to the men who were felling them at that time and they told me there was nothing ...
What about the property along the Exeter Road over looking the sea? Thats in a very dangerous state.
@ phantom 309 I knew a lovely lady who used to do the cooking there, she was called Mrs Martin. She used to come into the shop where i worked and purchase tins of carnation milk out of her own money to make her rice puddings extra special for the children.
Have you had your bicycle stolen recently? Two stolen bicycles were dumped in gardens at Dawlish Warren. Police are trying to trace the owners. If you think one might be yours you can contact the police on 08452 777444 quoting A /27647.
I noticed a lot of surveying going on around the Exeter Road, Sandy Lane area of late. Spoke to one of the men surveying and he told me Devon County Council are surveying the area ready to install cycle paths leading to Dawlish Community and Gatehouse school.
I think it was a huge mistake allowing the fair to take over the lawn on carnival week. Families i spoke to were disappointed they could not picnic on the green and watch the events put on by the carnival as they had done previous years. I know David Rowland is a generous man and paid for the marquee maybe thats what swayed the decision. Also the flower show had to relocate because the marquee ...
Was it a good carnival? Yes and no. There were some exceptional entries, well done to those. Where were our favourite Wakefield Majorettes? Their music and performance was missed by many. I can't imagine it being Gordens decision as he and his girls love Dawlish carnival. What was with those street sellers selling their awful tack and upsetting so many children?
The 7 year-old has been found. Good news.
