What folk forget is that the results of referendoums in the UK are not legaly binding and Parliament is sovereign so they our elected representatives can ignore the result and do what they like. Now i for one realised this and had many discussions with friends and forecast exactly what we have now as far as i am concerned this has just been a paper chase and the chances of leaving are less than ...

@majorp - Yes I agree all governments depend on businesses. The problem for the UK and the EU is how to protect businesses and at the same time have the UK leave the EU and at the same time have no hard border on the island of Ireland. @Lynne . All governments depend on businesses, even LA's depend on businesses. Which is why neither the EU or the UK want a No Deal situation. * But........... * although hard line Brexiteers seem not to have a problem with such a scenario ...

Re trade with EU countries post Brexit if no deal. As I understand the situation we will then go on to World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules. This would involve tariffs and custom checks. So therefore there will be delays at ports such as Dover and Calais. Which is why on both sides of the channel stockpiling measures have been, and are, taking place. This country imports about 50% of it ...

It is highly probable that we could be (notice the word could) leaving without a deal. It may take longer to negotiate new deals with individual countries in the EU and the rest of the world after we leave, but no EU country is going to stop trading with us just because we are coming out, most would have more to lose than us. It takes years to uproot a business from hear to one where they could ...
