General Discussion

Okay , I can hear an argument for those living outside of this country, especially those living in warmer climates, not getting it. Would it be cost effective though? Like, would the administrative costs of their not getting it be greater than the savings made? Dunno. Just thinking out loud.

Okay folks, on past experience I am girding my loins for the response I may well get for daring to raise this. As I've written before on this website, to raise any issue concerning age 60+ benefits is akin to walking on eggshells. But here goes. It seems the government is yet again flying a kite with regard to the winter fuel payment for the 60+s and that it should not be a universal payment ...

@cheftallyrand . sorry! (and yes i've still got your e-mail address and will endeavour to contact you directly in future as well as posting on here about matters directly relevant to yourself). Have a good year. L.

This new magazine is scheduled to be launched in March. I picked up a copy of the Christmas prototype today and see that the producers of Your Dawlish are looking for all sorts of things to put in future copies of the magazine like......... Articles to do with Dawlish history Gardening tips Health issues Recipes (Chef?) Pictures Contributions from the youth in the town ...

"The Age of Stupid" and "An Inconvenient Truth".

Thanks for the info everyone. If anyone knows if any of the Dawlish charity shops are collecting them I'd be really grateful if you could post that info on here as that way I can recycle my cards and at the same time help whichever charity it is raise money. (don't want to lug all the cards into town on a fool's errand if none of the charity shops there are collecting 'em). Thanks.

Is there anywhere in Dawlish specifically offering this service?

This was sent out this afternoon by Dawlish Chamber of Trade; "  The festive lights on the Strand are not working but are being looked at.  Watsons have inspected them but, unfortunately, due to the heavy rain the damage is ingress of water.  As soon as the rain stops they will re-check to see what can be done to solve the problem."
